Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA)

PTFA is an organisation of parents, teachers, friends of the school coming together to form a friendly school community. Our role is to encourage closer links between home and school. PTFAs are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together.

Roles and Responsibilities

Chair Purpose: Lead the Team and ensure the PTFA is run in line with the terms of reference. Responsibilities: Chairs and facilitates meetings in a manner that encourages everyone to participate; delegates tasks; ensures decisions are implemented; liaises with the school and the Headteacher; welcome and motivates new members

Vice-Chair Purpose: Lead the Team in the absence of the chair and ensures the activities are run smoothly. Responsibilities: Delegates tasks; ensures decisions are implemented

Secretary Purpose: Arranges meetings and keeps record Responsibilities: Assist the chair in planning meetings, takes minutes and communicates the information to relevant people

How the PTFA Organised

All parents/carers and teachers are automatically members of the PTFA and are welcome to all general meetings. Before October half term each year, a team is elected (or selected if there are not enough nominations) to run the PTFA consisting of a chair, vice-chair and secretary. PTFA Team usually meet once a term and set up smaller working groups to organise individual events where required.
